What the hell is going on?

Let’s hope that the Wood’s family can learn to live with the upset

What has happened that has allowed the big media players to assume the role of keepers of our moral guardianship and thought police?
Have they all undergone some miraculous religious conversion that they, somehow, feel gives them the right to judge others – or are they just so desperate for a story that they have to lower themselves to the gutter? In my opinion they are more akin to something that lives in the gutter.
The recent spate of celebrity sports personalities who have had their lives, and possibly livelihoods shattered, because of an infidelity that came to light due to a vigilant journalist is quite surprising. I was shocked at the revelations uncovered about Tiger Woods recently. What made his case odd was that, had he not been involved in a car accident near his home nobody would have known anything about it. Tiger, normally such a mild mannered and gentile type of guy, who managed to, seemingly, balance his incredible success on the golf course, multi million dollar sponsorships and advertising campaigns completely separate from his private life. I was not even aware that he was married. He certainly never mentioned it whenever he flew me to those exotic locations for discreet meetings to discuss his latest swing or club selection.
More recently, there was the John Terry affair. Again another seemingly mild mannered and excellent sportsman suddenly thrust onto center stage with the revelation that he too was unfaithful. The sad thing about this case is that, with the 2010 FIFA world cup in South Africa this year, we could have really used his skills as Captain. Can you imagine the shame if the damned Yanks beat us in our opening match. It is bad enough not being allowed to wave the St Georges cross in support of the boys, because the PC fruit cakes are afraid we will offend some ethnic minority or other, but if we lose that match because some damned journalist discovered JT got his leg over where he should not have, I will never buy their paper again! Can you imagine the mayhem that would occur if they ever hold the world cup in Pattaya?

Look like Cheryl is off to do her own thing in the US, newspapers should report the news!

Rooney down Soi 6 – maybe I should jump on this media moral bandwagon and make some real money – any famous people coming to Pattaya soon?
Ashley Cole is the latest victim of the sexual inquisition. He and his beautiful wife are suffering the indignation of having their private lives splashed across newspapers and discussed as “breaking news” on the TV stations world beating “news programs”. Quite how this qualifies as World news is beyond me.
One minute, Haiti is being hit by a massive earthquake, the next half of Maderia is being washed into the sea under a huge mud slide. These are tragic but very newsworthy events and deserve to be shown as headline events or breaking news. They contain stories of tragedy, hope, human selflessness and heroism, but who won “Strictly come dancing”, as reported recently on Sky as breaking news, or what happened in Albert bloody square should be kept out of the news. If there are not enough interesting events happening in the world maybe the journalists should turn their attention to positive and happy events to write about or, heaven forbid, something of interest.
Does Mr. Brown really like Mr. Darling or who threw a shoe at George W (shame it was not something heavier).
So what is going on?
I think we have another conspiracy in the making. Along with JFK, the moon landing, 911 and Roswell, we now have the American Football Association plotting with the world press to gradually remove all of our best footballers through gutter press journalism. The aim being to put them in a position where they can actually win the first game in South Africa – because, lets face it, they have not got a chance have they?

Shouldn’t we leave John Terry to Goal Scoring and not drag his private life through the Gutter Press?

If this ploy fails the next step is to offer American nationality to various selected individuals so they can play for the US team, a tactic they used with the inventors of Radar, in the war, to try to claim it as their own.
In the John Terry case, I was also interested to note the comments of the government minister for sport and his proclamation that the England captain should be above reproach. I agree that government ministers should be, since they hold an elected office, but they seem to be too busy fiddling their expenses to understand or care about their real function. Perhaps this was an attempt to deflect the heat from the government prior to the upcoming election. If we let the journalists apply the same criteria to government ministers we would probably not have too many left – so there is a good argument for trying it.
Several other things strike me as pertinent here. What if Woods and Terry have been unfaithful? How does that affect their roles as sportsmen – that is their private life and should be between them and their partners, not the world media. Furthermore if the members of the world media did not offer massive amounts of money to these, now affronted, ladies who claim the relationships, then the news stories would probably never have broken in the first place. It’s a funny old world and journalists are the scum floating on it!
