GIS rock concert helps charity

Bands rocked Garden International School (GIS) at the annual Band Slam event.

Groups from GIS, Rayong English Programme School (REPS) and St Andrew’s International School played original songs and covers in the Ban Chang school’s newly-refurbished main hall. Fans cheered and danced as the musicians took to the stage, and produced some impressive guitar solos and singing.

Judges–Dom (head of Secondary at REPS), Gill (veteran rock ‘star’) and Hyo Jung (a Grade 8 pianist who recently finished her IB studies at GIS)–named White Jack winner of an eight-hour recording session at Karma Sound Studio in Bang Saray (www.karmasoundstudios.com ). Runners-up Alphabeat and Apollo were given a five-hour session at Karma. Apollo also won the prize for best original song.

Proceeds from hot dog sales were donated to Operation Smile, which helps children born with cleft palates. GIS has raised more than 10,000 baht for the charity, more than enough to change at least one child’s life. For more visit www.gardenrayong.com .
