More than 200 delegates of the International Palm Society converged on Nongnooch Tropical Garden Pattaya for the group’s biennial meeting. On hand to greet the delegates and their spouses were Itthiphol Khunplome, mayor of Pattaya, and Kampon Tansacha, director of Nong Nooch.
The International Palm Society, Inc., operated for scientific and educational purposes related to the study of palms, their propagation, culture, conservation, care, and development, has chapters in 30 countries around the world. The group’s last biennial in Thailand also was at the Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden. Again last month IPS members had the opportunity to see a wide variety of palms, while international experts offered entertaining talks on palms.
