Jeff Savage who sprang to internet fame after he was recorded threatening to break into Central World and set it ablaze, was recently released after he pleaded guilty to all charges relating to taking part in the anti-government protests.

The Pathumwan District Court handed Mr. Savage a 45 day jail sentence after he confessed to violating the Emergency Decree during the May protests in Bangkok, he will now have to await his deportation. Both Savage and Australian David Purcell were charged after they were seen to break the emergency decree which prohibited the gathering of more than five people. Savage was initially sentenced to 90 days in jail, however, after pleading guilty, not being Thai, and having no political stake in the protests, the judge decided to half his sentence.

Savage had already served his sentence and was immediately released from custody, after which he broke down in tears and declared “It’s a miracle, I am surprised, and there is justice in Thailand. I want justice for all – the dead, red shirts and even yellow shirts.”

Mr. Savage will be deported back to Britain, however, he will need to spend four working days with the Immigration Police before his deportation.

Mr. David Purcell denied all charges against him and the court will reconvene on the 5th September to hear further witnesses for the prosecution.
