Chinese tourists don’t pay

Citizens of China and Taiwan no longer must pay 1,000 baht at Thai airports for a 14-day visa-on-arrival, a visa that can be extended once for seven days at a Thai immigration office. However, the fee waver is set to expire in October. The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) seeks to boost international tourism and views Chinese visitors as one of the most promising markets. A 2013 poll suggested that only about 25 million Chinese had so far visited Thailand but that 500,000 million would like to vacation here.
