The Chonburi Immigration Office, located in Soi 5, off Jomtien Beach Road, was recently the venue for a press conference to announce the arrest of a Finish man, Mr. Sven Tommy Lindfors, aged 50, at the Angate Condominium in Soi Watboon, Jomtien.
The man was arrested in conjunction with Interpol who received information from the Swedish authorities that Mr. Lindfors was wanted in connection with a case of misappropriation of funds, relating to payments of Company Taxes from Bygg & Fastighetsservice i Nyfors AB, a real estate and construction company based in Eskilstuna, Sweden.
Immigration officials were able to determine that Mr. Lindfors, originally a Swedish National, had changed his nationality to Finnish following an incident in July 2007, whereby he was arrested for allegedly transporting two kilos of Cocaine into Thailand from Holland.
He was banned from entering Thailand for a period of eight years, however, he was desperate to return as he had a Thai wife living here in Pattaya. He not only changed his nationality, but also had a Tattoo removed from his arm, and he eventually made his return to Thailand in July 2008.
Whilst he was in his native country of Sweden, he gained employment with a real estate company, and has been accused of failing to pay their taxes amounting to 46 million baht.
Mr. Lindfors, who appeared relaxed at the Immigration Office, was later handed over to the Swedish authorities and will be deported back to Sweden to face the charges.
