Wat Nong Yai, North Pattaya, hosted the annual Kong Khao Festival which traditionally follows Songkran. This year Sonthaya Kunplume, former Minister of Tourism and Sport, led the ceremony, spraying amarit water to hold ghosts and evil spirits at bay. There was also traditional dancing and the laying of copious amounts of flowers to bring good luck to attending officials and members of the public.
