Congratulations to all competing students!

‘O’ is eight years old and is the winner of a gold medal in long jump.

‘Man’ is the male ‘best sports player’ of the day with 8 gold medals. Man is known for his patience and good sportsmanship.

5TH March, saw the start of the Thailand’s National Games for the Blind and a young student at Father Ray Foundation School for the Blind took part!
Recently, the Father Ray School for the Blind held its annual sports day allowing all students to show off their athletic abilities. The opening ceremony was celebrated by the Deputy Governor of Pattaya, Mr. Ronnakij Akasing.
The school divided into two teams, blue and green, to compete for medals in events such as sprint, long jump and swimming races. The running races are a sight to see with the blind students pairing up with a sighted partner who leads them in the right direction around the track. This takes a great amount of trust by the students who are running at full speed.
The green team won the medal count with 25 gold and 19 silver and the blue team achieved 23 gold and 26 silver medals. This year’s best cheerleaders were the blue team who were voted winners with 10 points against 9 achieved by the green team.

‘Pui’ is the female ‘best sports player’ of the day with 4 gold and 2 silver medals. She is also known for her patience and good sportsmanship.

Waradar presenting a handmade flower arrangement to Mr. Ronnakij, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya. The flowers were made by the students themselves.

The FRF School’s Torch Bearer (pic) was also the ‘Best Sports Player’. Man is an exceptional student; and performs regularly with the FRF musical group. He is a talented Khong Wong player, whose music was featured at the Auto Alliance Golf Scramble last week. Next was Pui who also showed great athletic ability on the day. Man and Pui will be competing in the THAI NATIONAL GAMES FOR BLIND STUDENTS in SURIN. They both compete in many events including discus, javelin, chess, volleyball and shot-put. Man won 8 gold medals and Pui 4 gold and two silver medals. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that they do equally as well in SURIN.

WE ARE (presenting) ‘THE WORLD’ in Pattaya, Thailand…peacefully !

International Friends, Donors, Diplomats, Dignatories, VIPs, Media and Celebrities recently attended the Father Ray Children’s Village to welcome children to their new homes… A family affair… a Father Ray Family Celebration.
Saturday 13 March, at Father Ray Foundation Children’s Village special guests were entertained by the children and students of the Father Ray Choir singing alongside internationally acclaimed celebrity soloists.
Fr-Ray choir, presented a melodic version of Michael Jackson’s “We are the World”, after being dressed by international fashion designer, Thailand’s Opal Sangnark. Opal has been working overtime to put the finishing touches on the choir’s costumes which incorporate the national flags of our Children’s Village donors…and they look amazing! Canada, Great Britain, Hong Kong,
Republic of Ireland, Republic of Korea, Norway, Singapore and, of course, waving the flag of The Kingdom of Thailand.
Highlight of the Father Ray Foundation Children’s Village celebratory was the opening of six new houses. This saw ten children with their two “mothers” move into their new homes, Hibiscus and Lily houses, donated by Singapore’s Watt family at a cost of over 2 million Baht. Two year old Surita will be reunited with her sister, Juna, aged 9, a very special moment.
The Father Ray Children’s Village can now accommodate eighty needy children whose ages range from 2 years to 14 yea, just like real families! Based on the Austrian SOS Children’s Villages, Father Ray Foundation is proud to become a pioneer in a better way of caring for abandoned children.
The Father Ray Children’s Village would not exist without the many generous benefactors and donors. The nine projects supported by FRF can only maintain and grow because of the many generous people who give modest but valuable amounts regularly as well as those who give significant amounts less frequently.
Donors are presented with replica house plaques today and invited to plant flowers in the new gardens. Guests have the opportunity to view inside the newly constructed and furnished houses before they depart after lunch.
The Father Ray Foundation cares for 850 abused, abandoned and isolated children and disabled young adults through projects ranging from Vocational School for the Disabled, Father Ray School for the Blind, Fr-Ray Center for Children with Special Needs, Fr-Ray Outreach and Drop in Center,
Fr-Ray Children’s Home, Children’s Village, Fr-Ray Independent Living Center, Fr-Ray Day Care & Fr-Ray Job Placement Center. To help support the Foundation please visit the website at www.fr-ray.org/donate or for more information please phone + 66 (0)38 428 717.
