THERE was a time when we didn’t like Pleasant Valley, but there have been so many improvements and the club house has one of the best views of any I’ve seen in my life from the change room. One hardly wants to leave the change room, except the view from the restaurant is just as good. Thanks to the efforts of erstwhile Golf Chairman, we are still getting terrific green fee rates there. Nestled in a valley, the course still gets enough moisture in the dry season to keep the greens in good condition.
The golfers used to complain that the course was too tough, but judging from the results this day, they now seem to have it mastered. There are still a few holes where it is a challenge for the shorter hitters to get across the hazards and a rule enabling them to play their second shot off the red tees would go a log way to mitigating their deprecations of the course. Mashi really played well, with two birdies. When asked why he had done so well, he answered it was due to his playing partner (your correspondent).
