10-year-old girl dies 2 weeks after being hit by a rocket in Korat

The 10-year-old girl who was hit by a wooden rocket during a cremation ceremony in Nakhon Ratchasima died the day before yesterday after fighting for 2 weeks in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

The parents and family of Natcha Sawasdee aka ‘Nong Milk’ took the girl’s body yesterday

Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima hospital in the main district after being pronounced dead Tuesday night.

They took her dearest stuffed animal, a teddy bear!

Her sad father, Khun Nirut, said Nong MIk’s condition deteriorated rapidly on Tuesday and the family hoped for a miracle. The dreaded phone call from the hospital came while they were eating.

“I collapsed and couldn’t eat anything,” said Nirut. “It’s a huge loss to our little family.”

The singing rituals and cremation will take place later this week at Wat Na Phra That in Pak Thong Chai district.

The girl was seriously injured on the afternoon of March 29 when debris from a large tower of wood and PVC fell on her head while she waited for her mother to take her home from Ardwitthaya School in Pak Thong Chai.

Two Thai men have since been accused of reckless behaviour resulting in serious injury.

A Pak Thong Chai police officer said last night that a more serious charge, reckless behaviour resulting in death, would now be brought against them.
