A group of students from Rajamangala Technical University in Korat reportedly beat a 22-year-old engineering student to death.

Police have applied for arrest warrants against 12 young men involved in the criminal court.

On May 27, CCTV footage showed the 22-year-old student entering a building on the university’s Uthenthawai campus around 8 p.m. with a group of friends. An hour later, he is carried out of the building and appears to be injured.

The student was taken to Hua Chiew Hospital and later transferred to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital. The young man died of a pulmonary embolism on June 5, according to doctors.

Older students at the university had apparently arranged a meeting with the sophomore to discuss harassment of sophomores. According to the police, the older students kicked him as punishment. The 12 students are expelled from the university.

The victim’s 57-year-old mother told The Reporters: “I want the police to investigate the matter immediately and bring my son to justice. Everything can be forgiven if the older students confess their guilt.”
