A 25-year-old woman has suffered serious injuries after she was allegedly stabbed with a knife by her ex-husband in Naklua last Sunday evening.

City police were notified of the incident just after sunset (November 28) last Sunday. She and a local reporter arrived at the house in Naklua to find 25-year-old Watcharin Yoosabai, badly injured.

First responders said the woman had been stabbed in the back and abdomen, and she was rushed to a local hospital for urgent medical attention. Nearby, a knife with blood stains was found on the ground.

The suspect, Joompol Choonuan, 38, tried to escape but was forcibly restrained by several bystanders before handing him over to the police.

Watcharin’s relatives told police she was Joompol’s wife, but the two lived separately. The couple, according to the relative, had argued and split up just about a week ago.

Joompol is said to have told Banglamung Police: “I texted her to wish her a happy birthday, but she replied with an insulting reply while I was just trying to be polite. I couldn’t take it and lost my temper, drove to the house where I attacked her.

Joompol was taken to Banglamung Police Station for further legal action and to await further lawsuits, where he plans to plead guilty, according to police.

Watcharin, meanwhile, is in a hospital in Banglamung for treatment. Her exact condition at the time of writing was not released by the doctors.
