Over the weekend, three family members were killed in their car when they were struck by a large falling tree while driving on a winding mountain road in Umphang district in northern Thailand’s Tak province.
Police and a rescue team spent hours trying to recover the car and clear the road for other traffic.
According to the Thai-language daily Khao Sod, the Mae Sot-Umphang route is 164 kilometers long, with 1,219 sharp turns.
