3,730 road users have been fined for driving under the influence

On the sixth day of the government’s traffic campaign for the Songkran Holiday, 29 people died on the streets of the country. 310 people were injured in 313 road accidents.

This increased the total number of road accidents during the six days (April 10-15) to 2,113, with 238 dead and 2,116 injured.

The main causes of accidents were over speeds (32%), drunk driving (29%) and lane changing (18%). Motorcyclists were 86 per cent involved in the incidents.

On April 14 alone, 1,646 road users were fined for drunkenness. 19 drivers have received electronic EM wristbands, they are not allowed to leave the house between 10 pm and 4 am.
