8-year-old boy riding a motorcycle dies in eastern Thailand

An 8-year-old boy was driving a “saleng” when he lost control of the vehicle around 10:30 am yesterday morning. The “saleng” landed on top of him, after which he fell with his head on the road and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The twink drove a blue Honda Wave with a sidecar and drove from a gas station in the Kaeng Hang Maeo district about 100 meters away to his childhood home.

After refuelling, he drove home over a steep hill but lost control of the vehicle, which overturned and fell back on him.

This horrific incident marks one of many road deaths so far this Songkran holiday. Yesterday on the second day of Songkran’s “seven deadly days”, a total of 47 people were killed in road accidents and another 301 were injured.
