A Thai survey shows that Chinese tourism is waiting for the quarantine to be lifted

According to a current online survey by the Thai China Intelligence Center, the Kingdom of Thailand is one of the most popular travel destinations in China, followed by Japan, Singapore and South Korea.

However, the majority of Chinese do not want to go on holiday to the Kingdom until the mandatory quarantine has been lifted and a large number of Thais have been vaccinated against Covid-19.

  • 93 percent of the Chinese surveyed would make the vaccination campaign in Thailand dependent on their decision to book a trip.
  • 33 percent said they would like 70 percent of the Thai population to be vaccinated.
  • 28 percent said half of the population would be okay.
  • 77 percent would consider a vacation in Thailand if the quarantine were lifted completely.
  • 30 percent wait between one and three months after the end of the quarantine.
  • 28 percent between four and six months.
  • 36 percent only go on vacation to Thailand after six months or more.

The most popular destinations in the kingdom are Bangkok (40%), Phuket (34%), Pattaya (12%), Chiang Mai (12%) and Koh Samui (3%). Of those surveyed, 57 percent were independent travelers and 43 percent who prefer tour groups.
