American basketball player Adrian Payne has died at the age of 31 in a shooting in the state of Florida. This was announced by the Orlando Police Department on Monday.

It is unknown what led to the shooting. After the incident took place, police rushed to the crime scene where they found the suspected gunman, a 29-year-old man. He has been arrested and is suspected of first-degree murder.
The American basketball world is shocked by the news of Payne’s death. For example, the NBA, his former clubs and fellow basketball players show support for his loved ones.

Payne impressed in college basketball at Michigan State and made his debut as a professional basketball player with Atlanta Hawks in 2014. However, he did not come into his own there, after which he made the switch to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the same year. After a hundred games in the NBA, the basketball player also played for a number of European clubs, including the French Villeurbanne and the Turkish Ormanspor. He also briefly joined the Chinese club Nanjing.
