With the alcohol ban still in place and having to wait till the middle of January to have a little fun, it is no surprise that more and more people are getting bored with the restrictions and venturing out for a quick drink.

On Wednesday, around 30 people were arrested for drinking alcohol at a bar in Pattaya. As this is in violation of the covid-19 restrictions currently in place, the owner of the bar was also arrested.

According to Pol Col Methawit Praditphol, deputy chief of Chon Buri police, the raid took place after local police were making their rounds in preparation for the music festival had heard loud music coming from the Lisa on The Beach Pub at around 10pm.

According to Pol Col Methawit, who was in charge of the patrol, stated that, after they heard the music, they went to investigate and found at least 30 people (Thais and foreigners) partying and dancing to music and many had also been drinking.

The police gave orders to turn off the music and after a sweep of the bar, they found alcohol that had been served in opaque coloured plastic cups.

Bar owners and the public have already been briefed on the new Covid-19 restrictions after a meeting on November 2nd and even though restaurants can serve food till 11 pm, alcoholic drinks are still prohibited.
