According to the head of the National Security Council (NSC), General Natthapon Nakpanich, the state centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is going to decide today whether to impose a city closure.

The proposal to shut down Bangkok follows days of a record increase in Covid-19 cases. On Monday, another 901 infections and four deaths were reported in Bangkok, and even 15 were killed yesterday.

General Natthapon said the CCSA subcommittee would forward its recommendations today to the full committee chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

The NSC and CCSA will also today discuss a 21-day quarantine for travellers from Covid-19 hotspots abroad, particularly from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
