Bangkok is canceling all Songkran activities

The City Council (BMA) has canceled all Songkran activities in all 50 counties of the province to prevent the further spread of Covid-19.

The deputy. Governor of the capital, Khun Kriangyos Sudlabha stated that this included all Songkran plans for the Plaza Lan Khon Meuang in Phra Nakhon district including the alms ceremony, pouring water on a Buddha image and blessing the elderly.

Public and private organizations unable to cancel their scheduled Songkran celebration are calling on the city government to take strict measures against coronavirus contamination.

The BMA has also closed all entertainment venues on Khao San Road from April 7-12 and has offered all retailers in the area a free Covid19 trial.
