Boxer touts the advantage of Muay Thai self-defense form in a viral video

A female boxer, who rose to fame after a viral music video showing her giving a drunken molester to Jetje, has encouraged Thai youth to learn to box for self-defence.

Praeploy Sae-ia, whose boxing alias is “Praeploy Cho Kangwan”, announced yesterday that young people should be aware of the benefits of boxing.

“You can use the ability to defend yourself. Muay Thai helped me become successful – I got a scholarship because of the sport,” she said.

The former professional boxer suggested that Muay Thai should be included in Thai school curricula.

In early February, a video on Thai social media went viral on Thai social media. One man reportedly asked her to have a drink with him at the bar, but after she refused, he poured a glass of beer over her head.

Yesterday Praeploy took part in an event to launch the Seed Muay Thai project which aimed to raise awareness about the preservation of the national sport and encourage young people to learn Muay Thai as a self-defence technique.

the pl. Sports Authority of Thailand Governor Thanukiat Chanchum chaired the event, which was held at Wat Sutthi Wararam School in Bangkok.

A total of 127 students took part in a Muay Thai clinic yesterday and were trained by professional boxers and boxing experts.

This was the fourth Seed Muay Thai event after those in Chiang Rai, Phuket and Buriram.
