Boy narrowly escapes shooting in Trang, in which both parents are killed
A latex trader and his wife were shot dead in their car in Trang earlier this week, while their son reportedly escaped the attack with a broken leg.
The violent incident took place in the Ratsada district of Trang. Police arrived at the scene and found a Toyota Fortuner with two bodies – Weerayut Khun-in, 39, behind the wheel and his wife Waraporn Piandee, 39, in the passenger seat.
Their son Wasitpon Khun-in was sitting in the back seat with a broken leg. He was later taken to Thung Song Hospital in Nakhon Si Thammarat for treatment.
The initial investigation revealed that the family returned from the Thung Song district of Nakhon Si Thammarat and was very close to their home. Then a pickup truck came from behind and several shots were fired at the Fortuner before the pickup disappeared.
The police expressed the suspicion that the attack may have been the result of personal or business conflicts or that Werayut may have been involved in illegal transactions.
Police said they have some idea of who may have been behind the shooting and will check local CCTV cameras and footage captured on dash cams from nearby cars.
