Checks for drink driving is strengthened with a new system! Arrest of foreigners
As Thailand enters the Songkran (water festival) this month, police inspections have been resumed and strengthened in order to detect drunk driving in Pattaya as well.
The Pattaya News, a local media outlet in Pattaya, reports.
On October 2, 2020, the Thai police confirmed the old system to review the operation system of the inspection after multiple inspections of drunk driving that were not properly operated within the police were confirmed in various parts of Thailand. The inspection was suspended and the system was being reviewed.
For this reason, there were times when inspections were not conducted, but a new system has already been put in place within the police, and many reports have been made to higher-ranking police officers, and drunk driving is being cracked down.
Inspections for this new police system are also being conducted in Pattaya, and inspections are being strengthened as we approach the time of Songkran (water festival) this month.
In the inspection of Tapraya Road in the southern part of Pattaya, two Thais and one foreigner were caught on suspicion of drunk driving.
The Thai media reported that the foreigners who were caught had a bad attitude toward police officers and were arrested for insulting behavior and gestures.
