A dad is fighting to bring his baby boy home from Asia to meet the Scottish family he’s never known.

James Black missed his son James’s first steps and first birthday as the tot, known as DJ, is stuck in Thailand.

DJ has a British passport but issues with his mother’s visa application mean he’s yet to meet his Scottish relatives.

Doting dad James has spent almost £4000 on rejected visa forms, flights, accommodation and more but still can’t get DJ back to Scotland with his mum.

He stated: “I can’t put into words how heartbreaking it was to miss DJ’s first birthday and first steps.

“DJ is my mum’s only grandson and she still hasn’t met him.

“The British Embassy’s dealings with this is completely ridiculous.”

A Muay Thai training camp first brought James to Thailand in June 2016. He met Darunee Kaewpong, known as Bow, and the two became firm friends.

They kept in touch after James returned to Scotland that August.

In April 2017, James returned to teach English. The pair struck up a relationship and DJ was born on February 21, 2018.

Last October, an application for Bow’s tourist visa was rejected. James added: “We applied again in December but it was rejected. They didn’t think there was sufficient proof that Bow would come to the UK for six months on the visa then leave again.

“But I had my teaching job to go back to so we would all have left.”

In December, James returned to Cambuslang, Glasgow, to work as a driver. By doing so he would earn enough money to make Bow, 29, eligible to apply for a settlement visa to live and work here for two-and-a-half years.

On Valentine’s Day, Bow applied again for a tourist visa but the pair are doubtful either application will be accepted.

James said: “I just want the embassy to see my relationship with Bow is genuine.”
