Demonstrators arrested in Bangkok over assassination attempt on officer in Din Daeng area
Bangkok police arrested nine of the 11 suspects suspected of being involved in the shooting of a police officer on the night of Oct. 6 in Bangkok’s Din Daeng district over the weekend.
Major General Jirasan Kaewsangek, the deputy. Chief Commissioner of Bangkok Metropolitan Police Station, said detectives from Din Daeng Police Station have tracked down 11 suspects allegedly inciting violence and violating the state of emergency. A manhunt has been launched for the other two suspects.
“Police will verify that the suspects were actually involved in the clash with the crowd controllers,” he said. “The initial investigation shows that these suspects had participated in the anti-government demonstration at the Din Daeng intersection.”
Police Lieutenant Detwit Ledtenson was shot in the head behind Din Daeng Flat 1 on Chaturathit Road on the night of October 6. In the meantime, the doctors have said that the agent is showing good signs of recovery.
