The 2-year project to improve stormwater drainage on Thepprasit Road is one of Pattaya’s “short-term” projects to reduce flooding.
Road works began in November on the 124 million baht project, which is due to be completed by May 2023.
Once the project is completed, new drainage pipes will be installed on both sides of Thepprasit Road for six kilometres ending at Sukhumvit Road. The sidewalks will be renovated and power and utility lines will be brought underground.
Siripol Sriprasart, director of main contractor Phrom Yotakarn Rayong (1993) Co., said Thepprasit Road is being renovated in 200-meter increments to minimize disruption. After a section has been reconstructed, the road section is reopened.
