Elon Musk wants to buy the social media platform Twitter, reports the US stock market regulator SEC. The Tesla boss has made an offer of $41 billion.

Musk previously bought shares in Twitter. He stated that at the beginning of this year and now the richest man in the world has a 9.2 percent stake in the company. This makes him the largest shareholder.

The tech giant itself tweets regularly and has recently complained about the way things are going on Twitter. According to Musk, the platform is dying, citing as an example that big names such as Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber hardly tweet.

“Twitter must be transformed into a private company,” he wrote in a letter to Twitter chairman Bret Taylor. “My offer is my best and last offer. If it is not accepted, I will have to reconsider my position as a shareholder.”
