Fatal fire at Mountain B nightclub in Sattahip claims 16th victim
The Mountain B nightclub tragedy continues as another person injured in the fire dies in hospital. A 23-year-old man, identified as Sittichai Ouilert, died yesterday at 10:21 p.m. in Chonburi hospital after being injured in the devastating fire last Friday.
According to the Chonburi Provincial Health Office, a total of 13 people died on the spot in the Sattahip district and three people have since died in hospital from their injuries.
Nine of the 42 injured in the fire have returned home. Of the 30 people still being treated in hospital, 16 are still on ventilators to help them breathe, according to the Provincial Office of Health.
The 27-year-old owner of the nightclub “Sia B” was arrested and charged with reckless conduct resulting in death and operating a nightclub without a license.
Pattaya Provincial Court released “Sia B” on bail last Monday for 300,000 baht, sparking public outrage given the seriousness of the charges against him. He wears an electronic security bracelet to prevent him from trying to flee the country while he waits for his court dates.
Sia B’s 27-year-old wife Anongnat Panprasong insists her husband is not a bad man.
