In preparation for the return of foreign tourists after the Covid-19 pandemic, the government has approved a safety zone campaign to promote safe tourist attractions.
The Ministry of Tourism has designated five pilot areas.
The five attractions selected for their different characteristics are Bang Saen Beach in Chonburi, which has been nominated as a model area for natural tourism; the old city of Nan as a model area for urban tourism; Chiang Mai’s Baan Rai Kong Khing community as a model community tourism area; the Yaowarat Chinese district in Bangkok as a model area for shopping and the Asiatique the Riverfront on the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok as a model area for artificial attractions.
The participant attractions must have a risk management plan to deal with emergencies or unexpected situations. The representatives of the areas as well as the surrounding communities and the associated authorities are trained in the new normal way of providing tourist services.
The practices developed there will later be revised and used as models for other tourist areas in the country.
