Former tennis champion arrested after opening online gambling site in Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai police have arrested a former tennis pro who ran an illegal website with other people, the site had a turnover of 5 million baht per month.

Five people were arrested in a luxury house in Chang Pheuak, including the ‘famous star’, the Daily News reported.

The public was invited to bet on www.imiheng.com through many Facebook fan pages.

The police had observed the house for a long time before receiving a search warrant. There were 3,000 usernames on the website and monthly sales exceeded 5 million baht.

The suspect had previously been sentenced to 18 months in prison and a heavy fine for illegal gambling activities. He was also involved in tennis corruption, a story published by the BBC.

At the beginning of this year, he opened the page with the other detainees. However, the Daily News article did not mention any names.
