A Thai man who claimed to be a doctor has run into the lamp. The man sold masks and other medical items over the internet.

His customers wanted to buy products from the defendant, believing they were quality items, as he believed he was a doctor at a leading private hospital.

Most of his customers have never received their order. The suspect admitted that he has been doing this for at least 10 years. General Suwat Sangnum of police received an arrest warrant from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) on May 23, 2021. 230/2564 issued on May 20, 2021.

The CSD received complaints from victims stating that Theerapon had conned them into buying face masks for Covid-19 protection, cameras, shoes, phones and even skateboards. The suspect would claim to be a doctor at a famous private hospital and send photos of him wearing surgery clothes.

The suspects trusted that because he was a doctor, he had high credibility. He eventually ran off with the money and buyers didn’t get what they ordered. The suspect was also wanted on the basis of an arrest warrant at Sarae Police Station.

On November 4, 2020, a victim had ordered an iPad Air and an Apple Watch that together cost 19,000 Baht. Here, too, the ordered items were not delivered.

Investigations revealed that he was in hiding in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province, which led to the arrest. Theerapon admitted that he had been practising these practices for at least 10 years.

He always advertised as a doctor selling products and it always worked. When a customer wanted proof, he sent him fake photos of him as a doctor and a fake doctor ID.

He even donned surgery clothes for when an interested buyer wanted to have a video call. Theerapon also revealed that he is addicted to gambling.
