Pattaya police arrested a gang of motorcycle thieves in a condominium earlier this week, who allegedly stole more than 50 motorcycles with an estimated value of more than one million baht.

A Pattaya City Police team led by Colonel Padung Duksukkaew arrested three suspects last Thursday afternoon, named Thanadon Poonngew, 23, Nattwut Paranat, 23, and Apichart Boonkam, 22.

Colonel Padung told Pattaya’s assembled press: “The arrest came after police received many reports of stolen motorcycles in Pattaya and the surrounding area. Pattaya Police conducted a detailed investigation and arrested three prime suspects based on CCTV evidence and witness testimony.”

“Many motorcycle parts were found in an apartment in the condominium where the three suspects were arrested and in a motorcycle shop in Huayyai that traded with the suspects.”

The three suspects stated that they dumped most of the motorcycle in local reservoirs in the hope that the police would not find them,” Colonel Padung said.

“The total damage costs are estimated at more than one million baht. They are facing multiple charges of theft in connection with the incidents.”

Yesterday afternoon, Pattaya police collected several dumped parts from stolen motorcycles at the Nong Chak Nonk Reservoir according to the leads of the three suspects.

It took over an hour to get just over 50 engine assemblies out of the water. The Pattaya Police Department stated that it will be nearly impossible to identify individual motorcycles, but are asking those involved who may have recently had an unsolved motorcycle theft to personally report it to the Pattaya Police Station on Soi 9 during business hours.
