Government of Thailand has registered nearly 1 million people who want to grow cannabis
The Food and Drug Administration, the FDA has issued nearly one million electronic certificates to people applying for a license to grow cannabis, following the legalization of cannabis and hemp on June 9.
As of this past weekend, a total of 983,557 people had registered to grow cannabis and hemp through the app “ปลูกกัญ” (Plook Ganja or Plant Ganja), the FDA reported.
In total, the FDA has issued electronic certificates to 952,766 registered individuals seeking to grow cannabis and 30,791 others seeking to grow hemp.
To date, the app has been downloaded 43,531,846 times after the FDA opened online registration.
Due to the overwhelming demand for registration, the agency later set up another website, https://plookganjaweb.fda.moph…, actually for the same purpose.
FDA Secretary-General Dr Paisarn Dunkum previously said that once registered, people will be able to grow and use cannabis and hemp for improving their own health, making traditional medicines and for commercial and industrial purposes.
People are also allowed to process parts of hemp and cannabis.
