Must read

BANGKOK, 24 July 2018 – Yellow Star flowers blooming with a fresh, fragrant scent are a commonplace sight during this time of year, which marks the auspicious occasion of His Majesty King Rama X’s birthday anniversary. Yellow Star trees are viewed as His Majesty’s emblem. His Majesty the King has planted Yellow Star trees at places where His Majesty has visited and presided over royal ceremonies. Yellow Star trees virtually represent His Majesty the King and herald good luck for the people.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has called on the people in all sectors to grow Yellow Star trees in honor of His Majesty the King and put on yellow clothes throughout July. People are being encouraged to keep their home clean and tidy, help restore community temples and trim their trees, mow the lawns, repaint fences, and repair buildings in the compound of government premises.

In the meantime, general and vocational students and other youths are encouraged to join in such activities in an effort to create love and a sentimental attachment to their own community. Vocational students recently spent part of their on-the-job training course at Government House where they professionally did the repainting of fences, walls and buildings.

The premier instructed government agencies to conserve forests and to undertake reforestation as a food bank for communities under the initiative of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. Given the fact that many children may not know the names of Thai trees, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment and the Ministry of Culture have constructed a list of national trees under the National Botanical Project which is being implemented in honor of His Majesty the King.

According to Culture Minister Veera Rojpojanarat, a total of 128 major national trees have been registered in all regions of the country for educational and conservative tourism purposes.

In July, the people and public and private units were all encouraged to demonstrate a combined strength of allegiance to His Majesty the King by doing good deeds, wearing yellow clothes and growing Yellow Star trees.
