Thai authorities will have to search for people who have not yet been vaccinated to ensure that Thailand will soon receive herd immunity, Health Ministry Secretary Dr Kiattibhoom Vongrachit told the press yesterday afternoon.
It is believed that about 10 million people in Thailand have not yet received their first vaccination.
He also said that much of the population has been double vaccinated, although the exact numbers are not yet available as the database needs to be updated.
As for whether Thailand is moving towards herd immunity, he said he has commissioned the Ministry of Medical Sciences to conduct a survey to see what per cent of the population has developed immunity to the Covid19 virus.
As for those who have been vaccinated, he said the ministry may take steps to ban them from participating in activities that could spread the virus. However, he said the ministry has still not decided whether it will implement the Communicable Sickness Act to keep people in check.
Meanwhile, the Thai health service will aim to deliver up to 100 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine by December 5, he said.
