Most of Thailand will be hit by heavy rain and strong winds until Thursday, the Thai Meteorological Service warned.
The agency predicted that a strong southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, as well as a monsoon trough over the South China Sea, will cause isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in nearly all parts of the country.
“People need to prepare for harsh conditions that could cause flash flooding and break riverbanks. They should also be careful during thunderstorms, the TMD warned.
The agency also warned that strong winds will create waves up to 4 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea and even higher during thunderstorms. It predicts waves of 3 meters high in the lower Andaman and more than 2 meters high waves in the higher Gulf.
“Ships must proceed with caution and watch out for thunderstorms. Small boats in the Andaman Sea must remain at anchor from July 10 to 14,” the weather forecast said.
