The Home Alone film series is a household name and especially around Christmas, it becomes clear that the film is still extremely popular. Yesterday a trailer of a reboot of the classic Home Alone series appeared, but fans were not very happy about it.
HOME SWEET HOME ALONE
Disney and 20th Century Studios have attempted to revive the Home Alone franchise with a reboot called Home Sweet Home Alone. This film, which will be shown next month on Dinsey+, is about a little boy who is left alone in a house for Christmas. Instead of Kevin, the character in this film is called Max.
The trailer immediately received a lot of criticism. On YouTube, the video has far more dislikes than likes and comments such as: “Why can’t companies make new original films?” and “Now I know what to watch for Christmas: Home Alone 1 & 2!” .
Fans also went wild on Twitter and actor Macaulay Culkin, from the original Home Alone movies, was even trending. Fans wondered why he was not offered a role, for example as the father of the new protagonist. Culkin himself also responded to the fuss by stating that he will certainly not be seen in the reboot. Furthermore, fans, in general, seem to be fed up with classics being recycled by big companies all the time.
