The district chief of Sattahip couldn’t even blink before realizing that he had been transferred in the wake of the Mountain B nightclub fire.
The same day, the Ministry of Provincial Government ordered the transfer of Chartchai Sripho-on to the department headquarters, the deputy said. Governor of Chonburi, Naris Niramaiwong to the Thai media know.
He did not provide further details, but the announcement followed statements from the Home Secretary and the provincial police chief that the nightclub was not licensed and had been illegally opened in an area not designated for entertainment.

Governor Naris ordered officials at the fire-stripped nightclub to remain vigilant for potential dangers that could arise but did not explain further. The fire caused a huge loss, he said.
Fourteen people were killed and 41 others injured in the fire that started around 1 am, the Chonburi Provincial Office for Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha also spoke out and instructed all officials involved to monitor the safety standards of rural pubs and prevent such a tragedy from happening again.
“Today I ordered all concerned organizations to find those responsible and help the affected people as soon as possible,” he said.
“We need to be more careful about such issues, especially business owners and officials, as the photos are being forwarded internationally and greatly damage confidence in our country.”
