Hundreds of neglected cats found after villagers complain about smelly house

The villager of Thanyaburi complained about a huge stench at three houses in this village. The village council took a look and found hundreds of neglected cat cages.

The cats have clearly been neglected as there are remains of dead cats in the cages with the cats still alive.

The mayor of Rangsit, the Save Elephant Foundation and other related officials have visited the homes to help save the cats.

The foundation has started moving the cats from 3 houses. One of these houses belongs to an 82-year-old woman who used to work for the government. So far, 71 cats have been found in her home. Another house belongs to a husband and wife, both 30 years old. The foundation found 44 cats in the couple’s home. This brings the total to 115 cats rescued from the homes.

The cats are currently in a cat hotel and can finally run around after being confined together in small cages for so long. There are more cats hidden in random locations around the houses hidden under garbage heaps.

The foundation has been instrumental in saving the cats from a very bad end. Although it is very sad that many could not wait any longer, as cat remains are found in the houses. Officials want to message all pet owners to care for their pets as this will impact the animal and local people in the area.
