In Thailand, cinema fun is possible again, but without popcorn

Yesterday, cinemas across Thailand were allowed to reopen, provided they fill only 50 per cent of the seats and close before 9 p.m.

According to the regulations of the Administrative Center for Covid19 Control, the CCSA, all moviegoers must always wear their face masks and sit at least one meter apart. No drinks or snacks are allowed in the theatre.

Several people showed up at the centre of Paragon Cineplex in Bangkok yesterday and the people who came to watch alone had to be at least two seats away from others.

Personnel wearing PPE suits also sprayed chairs with disinfectant between shows for people’s safety.

In addition to movie theatres, the CCSA also allows other businesses, including libraries, museums, art galleries, nail salons, tattoo parlours, spas and massage parlours, to resume operations on a limited basis starting Friday.

The curfew in dark red provinces has also been shortened by one hour from 10 pm to 4 am, while markets and convenience stores are allowed to stay open until 9 pm.
