A member of the Indian mafia was arrested in Pattaya yesterday on the basis of a red search message from Interpol. He is alleged to have been involved in theft, murder, human trafficking, ransom, and money laundering in India. But Thai police have already confirmed that there is no connection between the arrested man and the ‘hit job’ on Indian citizen Jimi ‘Slice’ Sandhu on February 4th.

The suspect from Pattaya reportedly entered Thailand to hide from Indian and international police around June 2019, his visa was found to have expired 448 days ago.

Police say they have found no evidence that the suspect committed specific crimes in Thailand.

Last Thursday, the 29-year-old suspect, dubbed “Haman”, was arrested in a supermarket on Pattaya’s North Road? According to the pl. Immigration Police Commissioner in Chonburi, Thai media reported that he is considered a threat to the country, even though he has no criminal record in Thailand.

The commissioner said there was evidence that he had contacted his gang in India in Thailand and asked them to commit various crimes.

Haman is initially accused of overstaying his visa. Police say they will conduct further investigations before deporting him back to India.

After the Canadian murder case in Phuket, the immigration agency told Thai media that authorities are now more carefully monitoring and verifying the status of every foreigner in Thailand to avoid similar cases in the future.

Authorities also said there was no policy to ban people from entering Thailand from Ukraine or Russia, despite the situation there, and said they had not found any suspicious activity by visitors from either country.
