A police car was blown up the day before yesterday in a suspected insurgent attack in Pattani’s Mai Kaen district. Four police officers and a passer-by were injured in the explosion.
The police patrol car was attacked while driving under an overpass. The initial investigation on Monday revealed that the bomb was hidden in a small gas tank and had been activated via radio communications.
Authorities believe the attack was in retaliation for a suspected insurgent killed in a recent shootout with police in Narathiwat.
