Koh Larn, located off the coast of Pattaya, has again been closed to tourists to prevent the spread of Covid19 virus

The tourist island, Koh Larn, has been closed to tourists as of today to prevent the Covid19 virus from spreading further after the island has been hit by a series of new infections, the Koh Larn community has announced. The closure is planned until August 24.

The community has also established the following criteria:

– Hotel and resort operators are required to ensure that guests leave the island by today and that no additional bookings need to be made.
– Speedboat operators have been ordered to suspend services, with people having to ask permission from the Covid19 administration centre if they want to use them.
– Ferries to and from Pattaya City have been reduced to twice a day – Monday to Friday at 7:30 am and 5:00 pm. No ferry services are offered on weekends except in emergencies.
– Non-residents wishing to enter the island for work or business must notify officials at least 24 hours in advance and present a negative Covid-19 test result upon entry.
– Ships carrying food and goods are not allowed to carry passengers other than deliverers.
– Postal and courier services must deliver mail or packages to the recipient’s home without going to the door.
– Residents of the island must strictly follow the guidelines announced by the Chonburi Communicable Diseases Committee, as well as other related announcements by the province.

Koh Larn reported its first new case on August 1, after which the virus has spread to 20 others.

The island currently has a population of over 6,000 – 3,000 residents.
