Enera Siataleyeva, 30, from Kyrgyzstan, fell from the seventh floor of a condominium in Pattaya, the day before she filed a report with the police for forced prostitution

On September 16 Pattaya Police received a call about a foreign woman who fell from the seventh floor of the Royal Hill Resort condominium located on Tappraya Street in the centre of the city. Arriving officers found the body of 30-year-old Kyrgyz citizen Enera Siataleeva lying on the ground under the balcony of the room where the deceased was staying with a German citizen, 58-year-old Hans Matthias Bechstein.

The preliminary investigation determined that the girl died of fractures and injuries received as a result of the fall. A search of the room found no signs of a fight or resistance, and there were cash bills, about 10,000 Thai Baht, scattered on the floor, and medications, antiviral antibiotics, disinfectants and nausea and vomiting pills given to the deceased the previous day at Banglamung Hospital on September 14, where she had gone after visiting a police station in Pattaya to report that she was a victim of forced prostitution in Thailand.

On September 13, during her visit to the police, Enera Siataleeva complained that she had come to Thailand at the invitation of a job, her friends offered her a job at a Chinese firm in Laos in the tourism industry with a salary of about 20,000 baht. The girl agreed and went to the northern province of Chiang Rai, where she was met by a Chinese man who introduced himself as an employee of the company. According to Enera, they crossed the border over the Mekong River, and once in Laos she was locked in a room where she was under the supervision of an armed guard.

The girl’s passport was taken away and she was forced to engage in prostitution with local clients, videotaping bed scenes. Subsequently, her “employers” blackmailed her with these videos, threatening to send them to her family back home. The girl was then brought back to Thailand, and the “hell” continued in Bangkok. Enera was taken many times to various hotels in the capital, where she was forced to have sex with different men.

Once she managed to escape, she went to Pattaya to a German friend, whom she begged to help her get rid of her Chinese persecutors and asked to stay with him for a while. Enera filed a police report and visited the hospital by referral from an investigator. “We didn’t think she would end her life by suicide,” the police station commented, “the case is now under special control.

At the moment, the exact reason for the suicide of Kyrgyz citizen Enera Siataleyeva has not been established. Colonel Kulchat Kulchai, Pattaya Police Chief, said that in this case they need more time to investigate the case. Currently, the Immigration Police and Tourism Authority (TAT) are involved in the investigation to uncover organized crime and transnational prostitution by Chinese nationals in Thailand.
