Local elections mean new 24-hour BOOZE BAN

Must read

Local elections are to be held in all 76 Thai provinces this weekend, the first since the 2014 military coup.

And as if to remind people of who is really in charge during free elections, the Thai authority is banning the sale of alcohol between 6pm on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday.

Anybody violating the ban by distributing or selling booze during these times faces a six-month jail sentence and a 10,000 Baht fine.

The Thai Election Commission has not made it clear but it is thought that since there are no local elections in the capital, Bangkok may be exempt from this latest prohibition.

But the best advice is – to stock up just in case.
