Man in Chonburi, in a fit of rage, completely destroys his own house after he couldn’t get money from an ATM with his social security card

A 33-year-old man destroyed his entire house over the weekend after he was unable to withdraw money from an ATM in the Phan Thong district with his benefits card.

Phan Thong police were notified of the incident at a house in Nong Tamlueng sub-district over the weekend. They arrived at the house where the homeowner had locked himself. It took police more than an hour to persuade the homeowner, 33-year-old Thepphon Yindeesuk, to surrender to authorities.

The neighbours told the press that Khun Thepphon was not getting money from an ATM with his benefits card. He was denied the opportunity to withdraw 1000 baht. The man was very upset about this and furiously went to the skin to cause an estimated tens of thousands of damage, throwing objects out of windows, yelling and scaring his neighbours. Due to the unrest caused, the neighbours called the police, who subsequently arrived on the scene.

The mother of Thepphon, who arrived on the scene after being called by the police, told reporters on the spot that this is not the first time he has destroyed his own home, although this time it was very extreme. According to his mother, Thepphon has a problem with anger management and has previously refused counselling and support.

After rejecting professional help, his mother left the family home to live with other relatives nearby, leaving Thepphon alone in the house.

Thepphon was taken to a nearby psychiatric hospital and will be charged with causing public disorder, Phan Thong police said.
