Man in Pattaya survives fall from roof of 4-storey building

A broken arm and a broken chin were his serious injuries, but a lot less serious than what you would expect after falling from a building. A 38-year-old man for the past weekend after cleaning the roof of a residential building in Naklua. He was cleaning a tile floor, he slipped on a presumably smooth tile and sailed down the edge of the roof.

As many people will know, such “falls” seem to be a regular occurrence in Thailand and particularly in Pattaya, where last month a Thai woman was injured when she fell 4 meters from a building on Pattaya’s Walking Street, just 2 weeks after a foreigner fell from the balcony of his hotel room to his death.

But last week, at 4 p.m., emergency services received a call that this “Handyman” had fallen from the roof of a 4-storey building in Soi Poethisan. They rushed to the crime scene and when they arrived, they were surprised to find the man conscious and alert. Surprisingly, the man was even said to be in a good mood, perhaps just happy to have suffered such minor injuries after such a devastating fall.

“I don’t know how I survived with relatively minor injuries, but I’m thankful that Buddha didn’t call me.”

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for the broken chin and arm and is expected to make a full recovery.
