In the American city of Atlanta, an employee of the Subway sandwich shop was shot dead last Sunday after an argument with an angry customer. The man would have become angry because, according to him, the employee had put too much mayonnaise on his sandwich.

According to the local police, the man got into a fight with two employees at the Subway branch because of the excess mayo on his sandwich. At around 6:30 p.m. (US time), he would have drawn his weapon and shot the two women. One of them died on the spot, while the other employee was seriously injured and had to be rushed to hospital. It is still unknown how she is doing now.

After the tragic shooting incident, the gunman fled. Police have not yet arrested a suspect.

Police Chief Darin Schierbaum reports to local media that most of the shootings in Atlanta so far in 2022 have stemmed from squabbles. “We need individuals who want to talk their fights out, walk away and not use weapons,” Schierbaum said. “We can take out drug operations and we can dismantle gangs, but we can’t stop someone who is angry because there is too much mayonnaise on their sandwich.”
