Michael K. Williams, ‘The Wire’ Actor, Dies at 54
American actor Michael K. Williams (54) has been found dead in his Brooklyn apartment. This news has been confirmed by the New York Police Department. According to various media, he probably died of a drug overdose.
The New York Post reports that sources have said Michael died of a heroin overdose. In 2012, the actor admitted that he struggled with drug addiction. He told NJ at the time that it was “a miracle he hadn’t died yet.”

Michael’s breakthrough came almost twenty years ago with the role of Omar Little in the TV series The Wire, in which he plays a man who robs drug dealers. You may also know him from the movies 12 Years a Slave and Assassin’s Creed. He also had a role in several series such as Community, When They See Us, Boardwalk Empire and Lovecraft Country for which he received an Emmy. Michael has won several awards for his acting and was nominated for an Emmy Award a total of five times.
