Missing 89-year-old grandmother found dead after two days of searching in Chonburi forest

An 89-year-old grandmother who went missing in Chonburi last week has been found dead one kilometre from her home in Bor Thong.

Bor Thong police report that an 89-year-old grandmother, Khun Chuan Udomdet, was missing from her home in Bor Thong. Police have continued the search for her in the vicinity for nearly three days. The woman is a grandmother and elder in her community and was highly regarded, Bor Thong police said.

Bor Thong police said the day before yesterday that Khun Chaun was found dead in a grassy, ​​remote forest area a kilometre from her home. A gold chain estimated to cost about 27,000 baht was still found on her body.

She died at least 24 hours before her body was found, police said. Relatives of Khun Chaun believed that her original intention was to go for a walk, but that she had become confused, disoriented and lost. Relatives did not clarify whether Khun Chaun had any medical conditions that could have contributed to the situation.

Bor Thong police believe at this stage that the woman had become lost, confused and died of possible medical conditions and lack of food and water. They don’t believe there was any malicious intent.
